But there’s no need to suffer from RADaim withdrawals – registered delegates have complimentary access to the recorded videos and presentation pdfs until 30th November 2017. International Guest Speakers
Professor James Smirniotopoulos
Dr Smirniotopoulos is an internationally-recognised neuroradiology expert and a pioneer in electronic and online radiologic education. He has created a legacy of innovation in learning through his teaching of more than 28,000 residents over the past 25 years. Dr Smirniotopoulos worked at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), where he pioneered the use of radiologic-pathologic correlation for teaching neuroradiology. With Henry Irvine, then a USUHS student, Dr Smirniotopoulos developed MedPix—a Web-based teaching le application that allowed cases to be shared with military physicians all over the world. MedPix, which receives 5000–8000 unique visitors each day and more than 6 million hits per month, currently provides almost 20% of all USUHS continuing medical education (CME). A perennial winner of student-selected teaching awards at USUHS, Dr Smirniotopoulos received the USUHS Outstanding Educator Award in 2001 and 2007 and was the rst recipient of the USUHS “Innovation in Clinical Education” award in 2009.
Dr Niall Power
Dr Power qualied in medicine in Dublin in 1994 and trained as a radiologist in Barts and the London Hospitals, London.He completed training with a fellowship in body imaging at Sunnybrook Hospital, a specialist oncology and emergency imaging centre, and part of the University of Toronto, from 2002-2003. He returned to a consultant job in Barts and the London, one of four primary trauma centres in London, in 2003. Here, he was radiology lead for the colorectal and upper GI MDTs, radiology lead for colorectal screening and lead of CT. After a short spell in Waterford, Ireland Dr Power took up a role as Consultant Radiologist at Royal Free Hospital. His areas of interest and expertise include emergency, GI, hepatobiliary and gynae imaging. Dr Power has lectured at national and international meetings and has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed publications and book chapters. He was personally involved in the radiological management of the victims of the 2005 London underground and bus bombings and will share the lessons learnt from this mass casualty event during the Sunday breakfast session at RADaim 2017.
